OHP Radio presents John Ledyard - an Audio Book Presentation
He was 10 feet tall, could run faster, walk further, swim deeper, climb higher than any man alive now or has ever been. He sailed the seven seas, explored unknown regions, walked across most of the world and met the famous and native alike. A pre-curser and idol to Lewis and Clark, a native of Connecticut and probably the most fearless explorer of all time - John Ledyard.
In the next couple of weeks we will explore John Ledyard through an 1828 book by Jared Sparks. The book is biographical sketch on John Ledyard drawing from his journals and letters. This is a one and only production of its kind, brought to you by Our History Project Productions

The Preface and Chapter One: We learn about John beginnings, his home and family. We also look in to the spirit of knowledge, comedy, and bizarre acts that made this man who he was and where he started. This is a character I have wanted to something on and when I found a copy of the book I could not resist. I am no professional reader by any means, but I wanted to try something new here at OHP a chance for you to learn along with me. What you hear, is as far as I go in any given week. Leaving the week to google the people that surrounds John and to explore his life as I go.

Joe Manning and the Lewis Hine Project
This week we are taking a look at the Lewis Hine Project that focused on the child labor of the early 1900’s. Joe Manning who runs http://www.morningsonmaplestreet.com is joining me with the discussion of Mr. Hine and also a “Lewis Hine Project” of his own. Joe has been searching, finding and telling the stories of the children Lewis Hine photographed. An action, which almost caused an international incident at the beginning of an uncertain time just prior to the outbreak of the War Between the States (1859). This was an interesting story and the theories, what if’s and conspiracies could have really ran rampant on this one. I think that is one reason that makes this fun. This week we where in multiple meetings and under a pen getting our first grant together. It has been a long time in coming and a lot to learn, but there are words on the page and reviews going out. So, we are excited about that. So, until next week enjoy a best of OHP production.
This week’s Show features Bob Slaughter, his personal experience and firsthand account of storming Omaha Beach on June 6th , 1945. Bob has had his account published under his given name “John Robert Slaughter” entitled “Omaha Beach and Beyond, The long march of Sgt. Bob Slaughter”. Davy Crockett in Congress

We were joined by James (Jim) Boylston and Allen Wiener for a romp, not only through the backwoods but an exploration to discover the true Crockett himself. Folks this was just plain fun, looking into one of our most beloved characters and the early playings of our government.

King Philip's War - Classroom Edition
The King Philip’s War is the Bloodiest War per capita ever fought on American Soil. It is also one of the most overlooked events in our history. It is left out of text books, left out of our teaching and just like the tribes that were exterminated…wiped from our memory. - Not anymore.
Researcher, Director and Filmmaker, Aaron Cadieux joins us for a condensed shortened version of this Historical Presentation of the King Philip's War.
